News: Mining World Heritage: what makes us who we are?

The World Heritage Site Lecture 2024 takes place on 7 November 6-8pm in the Chapter House at Durham Cathedral.  Ross Forbes from Durham Miners’ Association will be speaking.  The event is organised by the Institute of Early Modern Studies (IMEMS) in partnership with the Durham Castle and Cathedral UNESCO World Heritage Site, Durham Cathedral Institute and the City of Durham Trust.  Professor Ita Mac Carthy will chair a panel discussion featuring Durham University Chancellor Fiona Hill. A drinks reception, with the opportunity to view a temporary exhibition of Miners’ Banners in Durham Cathedral’s nave, will follow.   Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.
